25 Years Fresh: Market Stories from Hastings-on-Hudson, NY

Since 1998, when the Hastings Farmers’ Market was founded by a group of enterprising women, the volunteer-led nonprofit market has been connecting people in the village of Hastings-on-Hudson, NY with food grown across the Hudson Valley. In celebration of the Market’s 25th anniversary, we’ve invited the community to share stories and memories of what the Market means to them. We explore what it means to be in relationship with each other, with the place where we live, and with the people who grow our food across the region. Listen now on Spotify, iTunes, or wherever you get your podcasts!

An important part of our approach is that it’s participatory – in addition to sit-down, one-on-one, “kitchen table” interviews, we’re also inviting the community to participate by recording their stories at the market on a vintage phone we’ve rebuilt into an easy-to-use recording device.

If you have a story or a memory about the Hastings Farmers Market and aren’t able to join us in person, you can record it on your phone using Voice Memos on iPhone or any audio recording app on Android, and email it to info@potluckproduction.com. Include your name in your recording, and tell us your favorite market memory or what the market means to you.
